1Getting started and Screen Time access
Why does Relix need Screen Time access?
Relix uses Apple's Screen Time to block the apps, categories and websites you choose while you focus. Apple asks you to allow this once. What you pick to block, and what Screen Time records while a session runs, stays on your iPhone: Relix never uploads it (privacy policy, section 3).
Relix says "Screen Time access is off"
Relix can't block anything until you turn Screen Time access back on for Relix. Tap Open Settings on that message and allow it again. You can turn this access off in iPhone Settings at any time; doing that ends all Relix blocking straight away.
Who can use Relix?
Relix is for people aged 14 and older, for personal use on their own iPhone. It is not a parental-control app. Users aged 14 to 17 get extra protections: no offers or discounts, no notifications designed to bring them back, and in Hard Mode an exit after a 60-second wait, as often as needed.
2Blocking, ending a session and Emergency exits
How do I end a session early?
It depends on the mode you picked. Gentle and Normal end at any time. Firm needs a 5-second hold and a confirmation. Deep can be ended in Relix after a 2-minute cool-down. Ending a focus session early after its first 60 seconds can crack that session's relic attempt; a later completed session can mend it. The rules are in Vault → Odds & rules.
My apps are still blocked
Open Relix first. If Relix shows a full-screen message instead of opening normally (for example "Relix is taking too long to open"), tap Unblock my apps: if Relix is blocking apps right now, this lifts it, and nothing is deleted. If Hard Mode is running it takes the same wait as an Emergency exit, and a Deep session takes its cool-down first.
If that doesn't help, turn off Relix's Screen Time access in iPhone Settings, which ends all Relix blocking, and write to us.
What is Hard Mode?
Hard Mode is an optional, stricter mode that comes with Relix Pro. There is no ordinary End button: a Hard Mode session runs until its planned end, unless you use an Emergency exit. At the planned end, the session's blocking lifts; a schedule running at the same time keeps blocking until its own end. Continuous Hard Mode blocking is limited to 12 hours for adults and 4 hours for users aged 14 to 17. The full rules are in our terms, section 6.2.
How does the Emergency exit work?
An Emergency exit is always available in Relix during Hard Mode. It is never removed and never sold.
- Adults: one quick exit in any rolling 7-day period, after a 2-minute wait. Further exits in that period each need a 30-minute wait.
- Ages 14 to 17, and anyone whose age isn't confirmed as 18 or older: unlimited exits, each after a 60-second wait.
- An exit ends all Relix blocking at once. Starting or cancelling a wait doesn't use an exit, and a wait never pushes back your planned end.
How do I keep important apps open?
Add them to your Never-block list in the Shields tab. It applies to every Relix block. Before you use Hard Mode, put the apps you'd need in an emergency on it: phone and messages, maps, health and anything medical. Emergency calls and Emergency SOS are iOS features. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.
3Relix Pro, purchases and refunds
I bought Pro but it isn't on
Open Settings → Plans and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. If the store hasn't confirmed a purchase yet, Pro turns on as soon as it does. If a purchase is waiting for approval (Ask to Buy), it arrives once a parent approves it.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You cancel through Apple; Relix can't cancel for you. In Relix, Settings → Manage subscription opens Apple's subscription screen, where you finish cancelling. Or, on your iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Relix. Turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting Relix does not cancel your subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles every App Store payment, so refunds go through Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com (Apple's step-by-step guide). We never see your card details and can't refund App Store payments ourselves, but if a Relix feature is faulty, tell us and we'll help put it right.
Does Pro change my rewards?
No. Free and Pro use the same reward rules. Paying never changes odds, tiers, essence, reward slots, streaks or Emergency exits, and you can't buy relics. If Pro ends, you keep everything you earned.
What are soundscapes?
Sounds that play during a focus session. Brown noise is free for everyone; Pro adds five more: Soft rain, Rain on glass, Hearth fire, Night wind and Forge hum. Choose your default in Settings → Soundscape, or pick one for a single session when you set it up.
4Your collection, backups and your data
How do I back up my relics?
Relix has no account and no cloud copy, so make a backup file yourself: Settings → Your data → Back up my collection. The iPhone share sheet opens and you choose where the file goes, for example Files, iCloud Drive or AirDrop. Relix never receives the file. It isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere you trust. It holds your collection, streak, session history, workbook and schedules, but never your Screen Time records or the apps you block.
How do I restore a backup, for example on a new iPhone?
Use Settings → Your data → Restore from a backup and pick the file. Relix checks it, shows a summary of what it contains, and replaces your collection only when you confirm. A restore never grants rewards twice and never turns blocking on: restored schedules come back switched off. You can't restore while a focus session or Hard Mode is running.
How do I delete my data?
Settings → Your data → Delete all my data. Relix first switches off your schedules and releases every app it blocks, including a running session; if Hard Mode is running, you wait as long as an Emergency exit takes, but no exit is used. Then it deletes your relics, streak, sessions, insights and settings from the iPhone. If you ever shared analytics, it then shows your old Analytics ID: quote it to us if you want analytics already sent deleted too. It does not cancel your subscription, and files you exported yourself aren't affected.
What is the analytics ID?
Usage analytics are off unless you turn on Share usage analytics in Settings. If you have shared analytics, Settings → Your data shows your Analytics ID: a random ID that isn't linked to your name or Apple ID. Quote it in any request to see or delete that data; Request my data / deletion there starts the email for you. Events already sent stay with our analytics provider for up to 12 months unless you ask for their deletion.
